An Overview of the Cloud Market Vendor Landscape for Enterprise Users

This Cloud Market Profile by the Taneja Group provides an excellent unbiased analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the leading cloud vendors. You might be surprised by the rankings when both public and private options are combined.  We believe this is yet more evidence that companies need to be ready and able to change cloud vendors as the market matures.  By using deployment technology provided by Arganteal, companies will be able to more easily move applications from one vendor to another to take advantage of price competition and better technologies.
For Enterprise, VMWare leads in almost every category and Amazon is grouped with the other “disruptors”,   such as Rackspace, Citrix and Red Hat who lack the enterprise experience and/or solutions to be hybrid cloud leaders.  HP, IBM, Oracle and Microsoft are the “defenders” who are trying to protect their large installed hardware and software base from other cloud vendors until they can monetize their own cloud solutions.  Finally there are the “followers” CA Technologies and BMC Software who don’t have mature virtualized offerings yet but will likely be able to catch up in the future because of their strong enterprise base.  One thing is clear – it is difficult to tell who is going to emerge as the leaders of tomorrow.
